Diamond Pacific large rock tumblers are designed for hard use, efficiency, and long life. These commercial rotary tumblers are ideal for tumble polishing large loads of stone, light deburring, burnishing, peening, cleaning and finishing metal parts. These machines are based on the original Highland Park design.

USE AND OPERATION

For optimum action the barrel should be used approximately two-thirds full of combined media and stones or parts. If it is overfilled there will be very little tumbling action and if underfilled there will be slippage of material without any abrasive action. Your stones or parts should be sorted for compatible size, shape, and hardness to ensure uniform sanding and polishing. Tumbling is an art and a science and will require experimentation and practice to perfect your recipes for various materials. There are many different tumbling machines and supplies available to adjust your techniques and equipment to the stones at hand.

When getting started, purchase a starter grit kit and top off with bulk silicon carbide grits or other tumbling abrasives and polishes as needed.

Available Tumbler Specifications:

The weight of the rocks and materials varies, so load capacities listed by weight are approximate and for comparison only. A more accurate capacity of the barrel is given by volume. It is important to load your barrel to approximately 3/4 full, regardless of material and including fillers, abrasives and water. A load that is more or less than 3/4 full WILL NOT produce proper tumbling action.

MODEL BARRELS x  DIAMETER MAX LOAD TOTAL WxDxH"
25RT 1x12" 25 lb / 2.5 gal 16 x 13 x 22
40T 1x12" 40 lb / 4 gal 28 x 13 x 22
50RT 2x12" 50 lb / 5 gal 28 x 13 x 22

65T 1x15" @ 20 rpm 90 lb / 8.5 gal 28 x 13 x 24

If minimal shape change is desired compared to the rounding grinding action of these rotary tumblers, vibratory tumblers are also available for home and professional use. For small loads, consider Diamond Pacific's Mini-Sonic tumbler line. For larger commercial or industrial vibratory tumbling of larger loads, the Diamond Pacific Vibro-Sonic VSV series are a medium-duty tumblers in capacities up to 50 lbs, and the VT series are ultra-heavy-duty tumblers built to withstand serious processing duties using cast-aluminum reinforced Viking Hoppers.

CONSTRUCTION

The 25 pound, 40 pound and 65 pound barrels are made of industrial grade polyethylene. This barrel design does not require any liners. Lids are made watertight by inserting a neoprene rubber gasket between the barrel and the lid. The double pulley drive on the barrel rollers combined with the polyurethane covers on the shafts eliminates barrel slippage. Rollers are mounted on heavy duty bronze bearings. Ball bearing guides keep the barrels aligned while spinning. The motor is mounted inside the base. Units for use in the USA come with an industrial rated 1/3 HP 115V/60HZ motor, heavy duty cord, inline switch and Appliance Leakage Circuit Interrupter (ALCI) to protect against electrical shock. Units for use outside the USA ("export") come with 1/3 HP 220 volt/50HZ motor.
